Snowfall Thursday 1/25

I think after a winter of less than normal snowfall for December and now most of January we are about to make it up, at least some of it. During the normal season Pittsburgh has had to deal with almost 20" of snow (19.8"). This season however we have only seen 4.9" of snow. Which means we have a deficit of 14.9".

However this will change, as a moderately sized Low pressure system begins to sweep over the great lakes, which in turn will give us lake effect snowfall. This seems to effect the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast beginning tonight. It will bring the pittsburgh area our first chance of significant snowfall. The Pittsburgh area according to the National Weather Service can see 1-2 inches of the white stuff tomorrow. Now I believe this is a little low. Accu-Weather.com predictes 3- 6 for the Pittsburgh area. Which I think is more accurate.
